AND POWER
OF ATTORNEY
People often ask me why they need a will or what a living will is. There is often confusion about what powers of attorney do.

A will is a document you sign specifying who looks after your estate when you die and who gets your stuff.
A Power of Attorney is an authorization for someone to act on your behalf when you are unavailable or incapacitated.
There are two types of power of attorney:
- For your property (everything you own)
- For your person (health care)
They allow someone you trust to make financial or personal decisions about you should you become incapacitated during your lifetime.
No one wants to spend the time and money to get their wills or powers of attorney done. Everyone seems to think that either they will live forever or die right after signing.
Neither is accurate. Unfortunately, everyone dies and unless you want the government to write a will for you or take over your accounts and make decisions about your health, you should have these done by a legal professional.
Only a lawyer can ask you the right types of questions to protect your interests when you are unable to do so. Will kits and handwritten wills often lead to problems that have to be litigated in court at great cost to you and your beneficiaries.
I offer a very professional but laid back experience that rarely takes longer than 30 minutes, petting my dogs included.
My fees are very reasonable because I truly believe that everyone should have these documents and be able to afford them.
The cost of a simple single will and powers of attorney is $395.00 + HST.
The cost of a husband and wife set of reciprocal wills and powers of attorney is $695.00 + HST.
You can even pay by cheque or e transfer.
Give us a call and we will be glad to make you an appointment. Trust me, it’s painless.
More complicated estate documents are available at a reasonably hourly rate and house, hospital and nursing care home visits can also be arranged.
